
Adele Mara April 28, 1923 (died May 7, 2010) was an American singer, actress, and dancer, who was featured in films throughout the 1940s and 1950s[2] as well as on television during the 1950s and 1960s. With the professional name Adele St. Mara, she signed a contract with Columbia Pictures[citation neededand was able to gain experience in the studio's "B" features as well as comedy shorts. This title was quickly changed to Adele Mara. One of Mara's early roles was that of a receptionist in the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks as well as Leslie Brooks portrayed the sisters in the character of Rita Hayworth in Fred Astaire's film You Were Never Lovelier. She portrays the character Alias Boston Blackie (1942) as the sister of the wrongfully accused and exiled prisoner. She moved to Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was terminated. She was employed in westerns and outdoor adventures. She starred in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch which starred John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima where John Agar is the love interest, California Passage, and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
