Ina Garten is an American author of cookery books as well as Emmy Award-winning host for the Food Network's most popular program, Barefoot Contessa which began broadcasting in 2002 and will run for 27 seasons until 2020. Ina Garten began her career in the White House where she wrote nuclear energy policies and budget papers. Though she found the career intellectually stimulating initially eventually she lost her interest in it and bought a tiny specialty store called Barefoot Contessa. Before selling the business the store, she worked for more than 18 years building it to a highly successful store. Many more cookbooks, and magazines columnists that came later. The Food Network television program also was launched and soon became a hit. In addition, she sells a variety of product from cooking ingredients to storage and equipment. Ina never went to any cookery schools nor did she work in a restaurant. Her education is completely self-taught. Her name is known for her easy approach to entertainment and simple cooking. Her most well-known recipes include the Skillet-Roasted lemon Chicken Beatty's Chocolate Cake Mac and Cheese Beef Bourguignon Balsamic-Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Lemon Bars.
